Reply to "BOXCAR SOUND MODULE.... success!"

Dave Z,

I tried a few versions of those when I was in the development stage.  They are nice, but they didn't meet my "design specs"..... why?, you ask...

...the battery life. The battery I decided on is about 10 times bigger for lots more time.

...controls.  I could not figure out a way to access the controls and charging port and on/off through the boxcar doors.  Wanted easy access for these items. On my final design, the shell comes off only if you need to access microsd card.

...size. I have lots of traditional size (O27) boxcars.  None of the units I tried would fit inside of the O27 cars and some scale boxcars. I'm working on a module that will fit in an S gauge boxcar, and I think it's gonna work!

That being said, those cubes are not a bad way to go...I just wanted a more specific set of criteria, that would be ready to install in a couple of minutes, so I could offer my units to fellow hobbyists.

When I know where I am at York, I'll post here.
