Note that the article makes reference to the fact that the State, (PA), did sell (9) bridges.     

One of those worthless pieces of information in my foggy head is that the city of Pittsburgh has more bridges than any other city in the U.S.  Why not have a spare setting around for an emergency.

In Exeter Pa, there is a partially washed out RR trestle crossing the Susquehanna river which a towing contractor purchased from  Luzerne County. Unfortunately, his legal troubles have cost him tens of thousands of dollars in fines, back taxes that are due, and jail time from a FBI sting. Now the county has to raze the trestle on the taxpayer's dime!
