Tamiya also makes a nice VW Beetle kit in 1/48.  Renwal used to make a variety of 1/48 automobile kits.  Most are of antique cars, but a Ford T-Bird and mid-60's Corvette can often be found on ebay at a decent price.  They also produced a 60's Corvair, Mustang and Buick in what they called "Double-Header" sets which would include a 2nd kit in the box, however those are harder to find and may set you back an arm and two legs When you find one complete.  An older British diecast maker "Lonestar" used to make 1/50 diecast cars including a Corvair, Cadillac, El Camino, Ford convertible and Rambler station wagon, but some of the proportions were a little off (particularly the scale of the Rambler, which looks a little small to me).  They can also be found on ebay.  Maisto produces an early 70's Ford Bronco which appears to be between 1/48 and 1/50.  Hot Wheels makes a nice 60's VW fastback in 1/50 but the wheel wells are unusually large to accomodate large "Dub" type wheels.
