Hello all,
I mailed my Lionel 2026 off a few months back for some work. With a liquid smoke conversion done back in the Eighties it had previously blown beautiful, voluminous smoke rings, but now after getting it back it only puts out about half that or less. It's not "broken", because it still works to some extent. Do you think mail handling could have affected this somehow?

Take the boiler shell off and inspect the smoke generator for proper movement of all the parts, including full travel of the piston, with no binding. Make sure the hole in the smoke unit chamber is not obstructed. Lastly, replace the heater element if everything checks out properly.

Well, last week the loco started smoking better than ever! I did nothing to it, and used the same smoke fluid. (Larry, thanks for your response. I don't mess with taking Lionel steamers apart - bad history.
