265E With China Blue Coaches

that's a great looking set Steve.too bad I didn't know you were getting it from Pat's, I coulda stowed away in the box.

I was always interested in the blue streak. I never pulled the trigger because I was told the way the tender hooked up to these cars was not compatible with other passenger and freight cars. Is this accurate?

I think that the tender and the first car have Caruso / latch couplers. It seems unlikely that Lionel would offer a locomotive that doesn't couple to anything else.

   I passed on the 265E because of the colors also, might have to reconsider after seeing your train on the tracks.

Was over at Steve's yesterday working on our standard gauge "squares" layout when he showed me this set. After seeing it, went directly in house, used his computer and ordered a set myself. Pictures both in the catalogue and and even on this post don't do the color justice. It is a great looking set and price was fantastic.

Actually the blue streak, Hiawatha,Rail Chief, China blue, red comet all use a drawbar between tender and head end coach.

Rob is correct. The tender has a drawbar on both ends for these types of articulated cars. One end is straight and one end is a dog leg.

It looks like Pat's Trains are sold out of that set (Based on their web-site).  that really is a nice looking set.
