Hi all,

A great mid-summer train party when we all have pool, beach and vacations on our minds. Thanks to our host and hostess who made this a grand party amongst good train friends. I told my wife when I got home that I have really nice folks in this hobby. It truly makes the train hobby worth every thousand dollars spent on it even if we can't pay the mortgage some months-LOL!

Thanks to all who attended and I'll see most of you at the next Greenberg Edison show in August or at the next York meet.

Please get your son's Address and Unit info so we can make sure to send some care packages to him and his Buddy's. My wife and I know when our son was deployed to Kandahar Afghanistan right after 9/11, he appreciated anything we could send.

Alex and Dina put on a great day for all the OGR forum people.  The day was great.  It is always a treat for Dotty and I to get together with all of our great friends from the forum.  Alex and Dina made this possible.  Dotty will post our pictures a bit later.  For those who do not know, Alex has a world class layout and it ran like clockwork.  Alex had some great Lionel locomotives in service and they ran great all day.  The food was great and the weather gave us a break.  Thank you again Alex and Dina.

As usual, Alex and Dina's train day was over the top. It's always  fun to spend the day with the great people we share the hobby with. Alex's layout needs no more explanation than "WOW!!". I'm only posting a couple of photos of a new scene he did of an OGR building and the OGR staff, complete with their signature shirts, in front for a photo op. The rest of the pics are of the people who helped make the day as good as it could be. Sorry, Alex, I'm not going to be able to post all 68 photos.

Alex's Dad -

What wonderful hosts Alex and Dina are.  Lynley and I had a really great time with a great group of people.  Thank you again, Alex and Dina, for inviting us and hosting such a fun event!

For all of the negative things about the internet, technology and social media, this party is the result of what all is good about it.  Because of this Forum and this hobby we have met and made some wonderful friends with people we would never had known existed without this medium.

Next time you do the trip, I have a tip.

I went up the NJ-TP, it was a major PITA!  I went back on I78 to the PA-TP extension, it was a breeze!  I cut an hour off my trip going the other way.  Going up to Alex's place took 2:40, coming back took 1:40.  Coming from Pittsburgh, you could hop onto I78 in Harrisburg and take it all the way into NJ, then I287 onto Staten Island.  I'll bet you'd shave a significant time off the trip.

Don't believe that GPS, they obviously don't take the NJ-TP traffic into account.

Thank you Alex and Dina for hosting all of us at your Open House...  Sheila and I really enjoyed meeting you, all the other forum members who visited, both those we had met previously and some new people...

Alex, the layout is exceptional and the trains ran flawlessly...  We enjoyed the conversations both train related and other topics!!  We also enjoyed our first visit to Staten Island!!

The cuisine was also great and worth the trip down from NH...

We hope to see you all again at York in October...

Just wanted to say a BIG "Thank You" to Alex and Dina for hosting an exceptional event. It was great seeing friends I've made from being in this hobby, plus getting an opportunity to "put a face with a forum name" of many of the OGR forum members in attendance. As previous poster's have stated, the trains ran "flawlessly" and the layout looked awesome! The pictures turned out great!! In the numerous group pictures, we had our chance to "tip" Ben into the pool, but we opted not to. Still trying to figure out why we passed up that opportunity!!

I've been to Alex's on previous occasions, as I have had him do his "magic" work on a few of my engines. I always enjoy seeing his layout, as each time I am there, I always see something I have not seen before. This trip was no exception. Looking at the different scenes, can keep you busy for hours!! A quality layout to go with some quality people, for sure!!

Thank again, Alex and Dina!!!

Dina and I are reading everyone's posts and wanted to thank all of you as well.  We had such a great time and are so happy to read that everyone else did too. It was nice to spend the day together, not only talking trains, but having a great time just getting more acquainted, having a lot of laughs, eating, drinking and making new friends.  So many of you drove for hours to make it here and we're glad you made the trip.  We couldn't be happier to have made such great friends over the years in this hobby, and especially on this forum.

For those of you who couldn't make it this year, we hope to see you next year at the third annual get together.
