With WW2 in full swing on my layout, there's not enough people or time to keep grass cut (nor other niceties like that). Besides, high grass is something you just don't see much on layouts but all the time in real life!

Today I received a package from Mr. Muffins containing the MTH Premier unpowered B unit to go with the PS3 Bessemer and Lake Erie F7 A unit I bought a couple months ago also from Mr. Muffins.  The B&LE ran an F7 A-B combination on the Kaylor Branch (former Western Allegheny Railway) into the 1990s.  They did this because of the sharp curves.  I took several color slides back in the film days, knowing it wouldn't be long on the rails.  The B&LE main line is about a mile from my current home.

BTW These are the only engines I have that I bought new.  Everything else was bought used, most from OGR Forum members.

I think we all had one of those.  PENCENTRAL Green,  4 car set if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I did, at least a little bit. I'm prone to snoring, so I slept in the guest room last night, so my wife could get some sleep as well. And I kept waking up like I usually do when I'm in a different bed, but I know I slept between those times. Compared to the nights before, I was out like a light. I didn't wake up all amped up like I what did previous mornings, too.

I went to the doctor today to address my sinus issues, and they did a blood pressure test and said I had high blood pressure and had to go on medication right now. They wouldn't except that the steroids were almost certainly raising my blood pressure, as I quit taking them just yesterday, and my blood pressure or was fine on Sunday the last time it was taken, as were almost every other time was been taken. But you know how it is with some of these medical people, they want to get you pills right then.

Bought this last month from a fellow forum member (thanks, Todd), the Pennsy TMCC crane & boom cars. The black Bethlehem Steel work caboose in the pic is also mine. The three look nice together, and I really like this picture (taken by Andy). I'm happy, haven't had any problems yet except with the outriggers. The tab holding one of the outriggers in broke off, so I made a new one using a toothpick. Didn't buy it myself but was gifted this RailBuddy flatcar for Christmas and since it's unique I'm sharing it. I have not yet assembled mine so the photos and description are from RailBuddy. Considering what it does and it's features this flatcar might be of more interest to TMCC and Legacy folks than those running DCS. Also seems to me that it's information readout would be easier to see and read if the device was mounted vertically or at a minimum of a 45 degree angle rather than horizontally on the flatcar.

  1. Current Speed in Miles per Hour or Kilometers per Hour. Know every instant the train's speed, not just at a single point!
  2. Comparison Speed - is the current speed higher or lower than the average speed.
  3. Odometer - Total distance traveled in the flat car's total operation. From this schedule maintenance on the track (cleaning).
  4. Distance for a single trip - Distance traveled since the data was last reset. Know your total length of track or length of a complicated run!
  5. Maximum speed - Peak speed since last date reset.
  6. Average speed - Calculated for you since the last data reset.
  7. Time Moving - Total run time or time in motion since data was last reset. From this know and schedule maintenance on the Engine.
  8. And you can calculate the Lap Count by taking a long run and dividing it yourself by a single trip, either in time or distance.

        *Speed and distance scales to all model sizes including US (1:48), UK (1:43.5), Europe (1:45) or actual (1:1)

They've lost their couplers from zinc pest (contributing to the very low price), which isn't really an issue for me since I had planned to put in the pilot cover on the A-unit and install Kadees. Picked up a 1950 build 6220 diesel switcher to go with my 1949 2026 steamer  , needs a bath , and some new decals ...  might end up being painted for Illinois Central black/Green Diamond scheme or , if I can find the right letters , I might letter it for Lionel , as the engine was shown in the 1949-1950 catalog

I bought a set of these at Tacoma Train over the weekend (they’re going to close for good in April and I’m already suffering withdrawls, as they were the best hobby shop in the area and there are very few others left). Yes, they’re HO, but they make them very large for whatever scale they make them in. I wanted some small potted plants and these seem to be just about right for that. I’ll place them in various places on the layout, just a tiny little detail.

Here is a link to a few I bought a couple years ago already. Haven't picked them up yet but will  this spring. This is just a small taste of the horde I own. I will be selling  the Alcos, Chessie and Coke items. Also anything else not postwar.  Many postwar locos too. This will put me having near 10 each of some of the units. Even I don't need that many. Many extra accessories also. I now have 5 182 cranes for example. So if anyone see's something you like, look this spring. It may be for sale to fund my other train obligations.

Yea I guess so... I ordered the powered unit and the dummy unit.. The more I look at these the more disappointed I am with MTH!! There are Proto-Couplers on the powered unit and no tether to the unpowered unit to support putting a Proto-Coupler  and lighting in the unpowered unit.. Yes I can run a tether and mount the Proto-Coupler on the rear, and add directional lighting(I think?), but to be perfectly candid, I think this is total Bull **** on MTH's part.. Maybe I'm asking too much for a several hundred dollar investment with MTH.. Not that they give a crap, but I will be hard pressed to purchase anything else from them.. Additionally, I'm sure that if I modify the units to be set up properly, I'm sure the mods will void my warranty..  I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.......  Am I asking too much of a company that 'prides' itself in quality??

I was considering buying a MTH Pan Am F-7 A-B (Power -Dummy) when I realized that I was buying 2 different units now for a total of about $600.  The new deal has no"tether".  A year or so ago you could buy an MTH A-B-A (Power_Dummy_Power w tether) for $695.  I have a 2005 Lionel TMCC steamer w/o a tether.  Everything works as it should.  

I've bought some MTH & Atlas lately and notice that the quality has slipped, i.e. new Premier Passenger  car with missing step and new Atlas Boxcar with a broken coupler  Prices seem to be going up and quality is going down.  I hope that the MTH Genset I have on order comes through OK.  I've had better luck buying USED lately.  I may consider only going that way and let someone else filter the quality.
