Chuck,

Unfortunately my time frame changed a bit so wife and I will be arriving too late to join everyone for breakfast but still hope to stop at Hamilton to get two early admission tickets from you. What time will you be at the restaurant until as I don't want to miss getting those tickets from you? Thanks.

As luck would have it I won't be attending the breakfast. (Last minute funeral in NY). However, TedsGG1 will be there with tickets. Hopefully he'll post here tonight to let you know what time he'll be leaving the HamFam. I'm sure he'll work it out with you.

Have fun!

Arrived at breakfast (with my daughter in tow this time) a bit later than usual (about 7:20), so I missed the early admission ticket--no matter, had some great conversation with similarly "locked out 'til 9" types and found the show enjoyable. Not sure of others' experience, but it seemed better this time around as many of the vendors I typically visit seemed to have loaded up on inventory. Saw a lot of interesting items.

Was there today and as usual, the show did not disappoint. The Spring Thaw is truly one of the great train shows. Found some items that I was looking for at extremely low prices. I have always found great bargains at this show and my wife loves the massive Farmers Market across the way, (but also on the fairgrounds). This makes it easy to do your train shopping and have a place where you can find food, drink, produce , bakery items, meats, Amish Foods and ethic foods all in one spot. The coffee shop there serves some of the best coffee that I have had and each espresso cup is hand brewed.  A most enjoyable day and you can take your wife along.

To answer Edddie G's question as to what we see there that we don't see at York. IMO, the prices are much better and we can get to Allentown within an hours drive of my home. Therefore the transportation cost is low and there is no hotel lodging cost. Going to York costs us about $500. Going to Allentown; 6 gallons of gas, a lunch, a $1 toll (round trip)  and an $8 admission ticket. Its cost effective and I find almost everything that I want there.

As I mentioned earlier,  I was going to be arriving at Spring Thaw a little late. Little did I know I wouldn't be getting there until around 1:00 ! And to top it off I wasn't feeling very well (I think my Pacemaker was running late too!) but I saw most of the show and I picked up the tools and parts I needed. And my wife and I got to go to the Farmer's market which is one of the highlights of the Allentown show.(you don't find the Farmer's Market at York!)

Had a great time at the Allentown show. Saw a bunch of my NJ HiRailer friends and bought a couple of items. I missed the breakfast, but thought the show was VERY well attended. The line seemed unusually long for those of us who didn't get early admission tickets. So I went to the Farmers Market and got a cup of coffee and a truly wonderful donut.

I too missed the 11:00 call for a picture at the OGR table. With my hearing, that isn't so unusual. I did stop by though to find out what Ed Boyle's "5 pack" surprise was. I commented on that when Ed posted it, postulating that it was really a 6 pack with one beer missing. Don told me that Ed had miscounted and it was really a 4 pack. I was deeply disappointed.

It was a beautiful day and it actually got a bit warm in the halls. I don't doubt the temperature GRJ stated and the A/C was on for the ride home.

Here are some more shots of the auto rack train. We did have some issues getting it to run reliably, but it was definitely NOT a DCS problem! Rather 6 wheel trucks and a train this long tend to start showing flaws in your track work! We eventually figured things out and had the train running smoothly for over  2 hours. These shots have the N&W NS Heritage engine missing from the front.
