Just wondering:
Will MTH continue to support their "Tinplate Traditions" traditional locos with parts for motors, E-units and air whistles? There are many of these engines out there, not to mention the "Lionel Classics" line! Steam loco drive wheels without traction tires? (I prefer NO traction tires on my standard gauge locos!)

Called MTH earlier today and left a message for Midge regarding this question. More to come.....
If MTH elects NOT to support the traditional powered locos, will the other parts dealers pick up the slack: motor parts, whistle relays, e-units, etc.
Did I miss something? Has MTH announced it's discontinuing the traditional-motor option?

Received a cordial follow-up call on Friday from Debbie at MTH who works with Midge in parts. She informed me that MTH has traditional standard gauge motor and wheel parts, as well as air whistle parts including relays, but NO E-Units. Some of these are in limited supply. I forgot to ask if the driver wheelsets (wheels, axles and bearings) have traction tires? Perhaps when the MTH "Tinplate Traditions" line supercedes the LCT production, some traditional units will return?
NOTE: Traditional E-Units can be rebuilt from readily available parts and tools although some minimum skills are required.

Indeed! I have watched these being worked on with the spreader tool and it does require some dexterity. Definitely easier said than done!
I suppose Lionel service techs developed some jigs over the years to make the job easier?
