Looks like an awful lot of house for the money, a very good deal. At least it would be around here. What is the connection to Lionel, I'm way behind on my history lessons? 

The answer is, Lionel Nostalgia.

    For over 30 years Bob had one of the best Lionel Train Rooms in the Detroit area and it was located in this Historic Detroit Home. If you wanted to see a great home Lionel Layout this was the place to be invited.

At the Detroit Historical Museum, Bob served as Adjunct Curator of the Glancy Trains Collection for 27 years. This is a very large 3 rail layout located at the Detroit Historical Society.

Look at the last sale price in 2013! ($130,000)

Once a prestigous area of Detroit, it, like most of the City has fallen. Attemps at "normalizing" are futile and until the severe CRIME problem is fixed, Detroit will continue at the bottom. Detroit has one of the highest property tax rates, too. The current path out of bankrupcy is a baby step. Unfortunately, I'll never see the City come back to where it was when I was a child. BTW, I lived within 10 blocks of that property. So sad!

Thanks for the added info. I was thinking the name sounded familiar, but could not place it. I may have seen or read something about him one time. Looks like that house had plenty of room for trains too.

I did see the $130,000 in 2013. I was assuming (I know what that does) that someone had bought it in 2013 and fixed it up to re-sell, but maybe not? I have never been to Detroit, but have heard about it's deterioration. I have seen pictures of many beautiful homes and neighborhoods there from the past built and owned by many wealthy car execs and others from related industries. Sad that it's gone down to where it is now, I bet it was a really beautiful city at one time.

It pains me when I see what's happened to the once great city of Detroit.
