As some of you know, I had to downsize my layout drastically to do the plumbing for a second toilet in the house and to gain extra living space in the basement.

Some scenes in the new train room may be familiar to you from the old layout, while others are totally new.

Here is a quick tour around the mainline from the front platform of a Lionel Legacy RS-11.

I know this point of view only gives a hint of the new scenes, but there will be more to come in the weeks ahead. It's good to be running trains again through "almost- finished" scenery.

Isn't there a law on the books somewhere prohibiting this?

Still, your layout looks great and also still much nicer and bigger than mine. I only hope to have something that nice someday.

I guess downsizing is a very relative thing! I still have a larger space than I ever dreamed of as a kid with those 3'x5' layouts when we lived in Bronx apartment buildings.

It's definitely the season to be thankful for the opportunities that we have and try to make the most of our situations.

That is a great thing to say. I hope you know I was just playing around. You represent what can be done in O scale and I follow your work.

Have a great set of Holidays!

Sweet - that is cooler than a snowcone on the South Pole.  And hotter than a depot stove.  I wanted to hear that horn again!  Nice modeling.  I enjoyed the tour.  I am layoutless now, which stinks, so it was nice to see some things familiar, and so many new and fascinating  things around every corner.  It may be downsized, but it looks like you nailed it.  Probably was fun figuring it out.  Bravo!
Ok, this was just the inspiration to get my standard gauge stuff out and set up a floor layout and start running trains again.  Thanks for that.  On my way to the store room.  Cheers!

Thanks again, guys.

George,

Now the layout is an "L' instead of a "G" in shape. It's about 1/3 the original size in all. I was able to keep the industrial area with its wall-flat factories, etc. as seen in the first and last part of the video, as well as the New Mott Haven area with the big waterfall scene.

I'll be posting photos that show how these blend in with the new scenes.

Tom,

The tower is a Korber kit and the station with the turret is a Hydrocal casting kit. I think it's by Downtown Deco but I'm not sure.

Skip,

We'll probably take one of those tour bus trips down sometime in mid-December after the tree lighting. My wife is hinting that she wants to include the Radio City show in our itinerary this year so I'm not sure how far we'll get on our usual walking tour.

Well we all have to adapt to the space given us, Cassie would like to see some trains running, gee so would I. Thinking of a much smaller temp lay-out in our basement. My mind has to completely rethink lay-out structure planning to some degree. Still have to do alot of work in the basement first before lay-out.

Jim great lay-out thanks for the tour, keep the updates coming. You are imspirational. Thanks again!
