Adding rail sounds to Lionel layout question

there are some nice rail sound add on kits available. I might try one and the perfect subject could be a post war whistle tender that has a clean shell and chassis it would already have the pick up roller for power and the impeller opening could make for a good speaker opening/placement

Use block control to turn on the speakers at each section.  Have small blocks so that you can have three sections on at a time.  The one it just left, the block it's on, and the one it's going to.

Sounds very complicated to run multiple locomotives and keep the sounds straight.  I'm having a hard time visualizing how this will work.
