O scale Scratchbuilt Coal Tipple made from Styrofoam Sheet

This O scale Coal Tipple is made from 3/16 inch Styrofoam Sheet and stripwood. It will have interior detailing and lighting. Not all details shown.

Overall dimensions:  88 feet x 150 feet x 128 feet (except for conveyor and mine building).

The structure is constructed as 4 separate buildings which "bolt" together.  The "headhouse", "screening" building, car "loading chute" building and "maintenance" building.  The "conveyor" section and "mine" building have been recently added.

The structure can very easily be disassembled and stored in individual boxes when not in use. The interior of each building has separate removable floors which will be detailed and painted. Interior and exterior LED lighting will also be added. Not shown are the coal chutes for loading hopper cars.

More photos have been added showing the conveyor and "mine" building. Notice the walkway and stairs added to the "headhouse" down to the ground floor. The stairways and railings are Plastruct O scale parts.

Any Written instructions for this project that you can share?

This structure is built as individual modules that are combined using ordinary #4 screws and nuts. The roof and interiors are removable for further detailing.  The structure at present is too large to fit on my layout.  The structure has been temporarily disassembled and stored in individual boxes until more details can be added. In the process of moving so everything has been placed in a storage locker.

I am in the process of bldg. an O scale 2 rail outdoor railroad using AirWire 900 for motive power and am looking at your coal mine for Ideas I have place outdoors that I would Like to do a mine diorama ad a destination for coal porter trains.   I am looking for drawings and dimensions of the buildings and structural components.  Any help in that direction will help just know the timber or structural steel sizes for the tipple underpinings would helpI can pretty much judge the building sizes by the window and siding on the structures just need a little help would be a great winter project for my office.
