So---I have worked up the courage (almost) to tackle the "keystone" or "hub" module for my 2 rail waterfront switching  layout.  I have a box of AHM turnouts that I plan to slather onto  this yard module.

But----BEFORE I start laying them down on a permanent basis, I am wondering how these turnouts perform.  I  may just operate them off  "choke cables", I am thinking.  Maybe NOT all of them.

AND I am asking my fellow 2 railers----

*How do the AHM turnouts perform with the stock remote control system?

*Have you used these turnouts?  What was your satisfaction level with them?

*How about the dread derailments? How do they DO in THAT regard?

Of course the big advantage of the AHM/Rivarossi turnout is initial price.  The near code .100 rail and sharp turns were the attracting factor for ME.

Is anybody here ready to spill and tattle about these 1970's turnouts which seem to be so cheap and abundant?  I am "all ears"!

I notice these turnouts seem to be of the wider radius Rivarossi  curves (60"??)  rather than the tighter (48"??) Pola curved track. (For the uninitiated, both Pola and Rivarossi made quite similar curved reack for the AHM badge.)

I had a couple AHM  I used in yard areas...maybe 35 years ago...and that was two layouts ago.   I don't recall having any problems with derails, but it was slow speed with small engines and small strings of cars.  I am pretty sure I used the switchmachines that came with them.  I would double check what you are saying about radious.  Seems to me they were only 36" radious but I am not certain.
