I have been looking for these elusive Lionel E-6 A-A diesel units for 7 years... and I have never seen them... then on my first trip to York I received help finding these... Cell phones are great for texting your fellow colleague in finding rare items!

The seller wanted to sell them as a set with the 15 inch cars, however with an added 50.00 dollar incentive I was able to purchase the engine set for 500.00!

They still had the card board and foam on them!  I coupled them up to my 18 inch K line Golden State cars and finally had a passenger set that looked outstanding!  I was convinced,  if its not at York ... they didn't make it.

Great find.  And yes, these are very hard to find because they are such great looking engines and they run well (after replacing the Odyssey cruise with ERR's).  I'm sure you will enjoy them.

I noticed you run your GS set without the domes.  I plan to do the same with mine so I'm looking for some extra cars.  Not sure what to do with the three domes I have (two with set, one factory error).  I bought the domes before I learned the GS had none. Maybe I'll keep them on "my" railroad, which already has a few discrepancies from real life.

Ron,

If you like them, run them! And only count rivets when a manufacturer makes a claim

JDaddy, beautiful set, thanks for sharing. Enjoy!!

Yes put those domes on the Bay. Sometimes they go like hot cakes. I thought about picking one up but anything over 100.00 and I passed. You will see the other cars from time to time go for about 60.00 a piece...

Great cars and for a time I had nothing to pull them with.

Might one of those domes be the elusive 'Golden Outlook'? (k4632-29841c).

Been looking for one of those for a while (like ever since the last few cars were released). I bought some MTH Golden Rocket cars to extend my set, so while it's not prototypical, it'll still look impressive (when I get around to running it)
