Allied Model Trains is closing !!

That's a shame. I have never been there but I have seen pictures of that store building before somewhere. Bankruptcy too, that is really sad, hate to see it.

I was there once, years ago.  We are losing makers and sellers.....I guess I need to

go back to HO, as they seem to be thriving, although with current, rather than historical models.  (maybe HO just has the makers, and is losing these sellers, also)

Maybe we should have that sort of thing like WW1 soldiers where the last model railroader gets the bottle of Cognac.

I would say a Big Boy, but then there would be 10,000 Big Boys piled up on someone's yard.

They had a fire today in the closed shop

The shadows are closing in. Looked like a beautiful shop, with good depth of inventory. Bankruptcy.........ominous.

I did some further research on line and found an LA Times article dated May 9 where they said they were going to close the store and retire.  Then I found two articles from other sources that said they closed suddenly on July 7 due to insolvency.  All so sad, but I agree with their comments in the article.

The court ordered bankruptcy auction was scheduled for Sept 9th. Sounds like everything is a loss. I wounder if they had insurance?

Boy that one video has the guy there as the firemen just hook up the hoses. Maybe we can have someone who knows fires can chime in on this?
