Some here may recall my thread on replacing the older MTH right angle loop tethers with straight ones on this thread.

I may have an easier and less expensive method to achieve the same goal. Simply modify the existing right angle connector. I was a bit surprised how easy it was. I simply cut away the back of the connector with wire cutters which allowed the harness to be pulled straight. After cutting I smoothed the surface with some coarse sandpaper (~50 grit). Here are the results.

Take small bites with the dikes:

This still requires opening up the tender tunnel and I will elongate the holes in the engine connector to allow it to swivel some but there is plenty of space above the tether for a deck.

Besides requiring no investment it is completely reversible, in fact the before picture was taken after modifying the connector.
