I'm at the point where I was going to install the marquee but I'm not sure what to do about the fit problem. I opened the slots in the back according to the directions but the sign doesn't fit. Do I open up the slots a little more or do I trim the sign? I'm assuming the marquee is mounted with the 2 half moon pieces in the box as a guide. That being the case the sign appears to be way too long and a good bit of it will be inside the building. Am I missing something?

Without photos to understand the issue. I would try 5 minute epoxy and rubber bands to hold it all together.

Do not trim the sign .. It can mess it up .This comes from experience make the slots bigger ...After you get it in there you will see it fits right.
Jojofry is right......do not trim the sign, you are asking for trouble. Just widen the slots and it will fit fine.

I'm still working on my theater as well. I found, like others mention, that I had to make the sign receiving slots longer by a bit. I may have made them a little too wide and will have to mask the cuts a little, probably with some painted wood strips.
