Thought I would make a statement about the Big E show in Springfield, Mass. this past weekend. Since it is my first time at this venue, I have to say that the vendors, patrons, and staff of this show are wonderful. Having been to York, PA many times...there are significant differences that i noticed:
Four Large buildings of train related materials
Multi-scale show, z-g
Great demonstrations-how to clinics offered
If I had to guess, I would say there were about 100 layouts or modules being displayed and operated.
Open to the public
Kids and familys
A very knowledgeable and talented group of buyers
It appears to me from the people I spoke with, that they appreciate quality and are willing to pay for it. (everyone loves a deal!)
A snowstorm can play havoc at either venue...attendance was about 5000 on Saturday (i was told that Sat. usually is in the 5 figure amount) due to the heavy snow that arrived. Sunday had over 9000 so for the two days, about 14,000 attended...similar to York.
My wife and I enjoyed our table mates and the facilities were a great venue for selling, loving, and buying train related materials. The food was good, maybe a little expensive, but while there, we are a captive audience and I appreciated the ability to eat in each hall.
We will come back!
By the way, thank you to all the forum members who thanked us for sponsoring the forum. Also to those who stopped by to see the product in person and to those who purchased Ogre Lighting, and made this a successful show for us...we appreciate your patronage.
ps. I had an awful lot of requests for two new items...LED Strip Lighting and HO scale bendable pan lights. I will check into this as a possible product for Ogre Modeling, LLC
