If anyone has a contact for who I could speak to about the Orange Hall meeting room please let me know.  I believe this would be my only choice as an alternative.  I really don't want to get further away from the fairgrounds so that everyone has a convenient path to the meet including the representatives from Lionel who need to be back at the booth.  The meeting room could work better for all if we can swing some doughnuts and coffee.

Does anyone know, if we can use the meeting room, if we can bring in our own coffee and doughnuts?  I know some venues have rules about outside food services.

If you could get in touch with the Eastern Division there is a meeting room off the main lobby of the Orange hall all the way on the right just past the last hall entrance. I doubt they will be using it then.

For food everyone could get bring their own or get it from the hall vendor in the lobby.

Just throwing out an idea considering our time line.

Steve

Thanks.  I sent Mike, the meet chairman an email.  I'll let everyone know what happens.  Another thought was to get some coffee and doughnuts if the fairgrounds would allow it.  Have everyone pitch in a buck.  I also like the idea of stopping at concessions.  We'll see how this plays out.  Barry Broskowitz (thank you Barry) also suggested the White Rose on the Fairgrounds.  He suspects there is some room in there even during breakfast.

Would be interesting to find out if Lionel plans on producing an after market Legacy decoders.

Also is Lionel planning on producing a LCS  insulated block detector? To be able to have insulated blocks indication sent over the LCS to a PC etc.. for CTC block signals or to the LCS app (not using the sensor track).

Any plans on a shorter shank electro coupler?

I will say this...there is incentive for this meeting to be held.  Mike, the EDTCA York Chairman is checking on the availability of an orange hall meeting room.  He also mentioned the gold hall as an alternative.  He is traveling so when he gets back to me I'll let everyone know.  I'm pretty sure it's happening, where is yet to be nailed down.  Once we get past the fall meeting Will and I are going to re-group and find a new home.  If the orange hall works out we may just do that if the EDTCA will have us.

Stay Tuned and thanks for all the suggestions and patience.

MARTYE,

I would like to reserve a spot if there are any still available please.   BTW, where can I purchase the Black Plug-In Modules that are required?   Thank you in advance for making this happen!    AHHHH, Coffee AND Doughnuts, The Breakfast of Champions!

Try one of the forum sponsors for the black modules.  There is also a thread about how to make them from the old blue modules.

Questions about Legacy and LCS...

1 Is it possible for a key tap to bring the Direction Arrow back onto the CAB2 display?  Often times I operate engines that are out of sight, and not being able to see the back up light to confirm direction of the engine can be a pain.  At present I press the Multi Controller.  Inevitably that press puts the engine in the wrong direction.  Could a short press on the Multi Controller indicate direction on the CAB2 and long press actually change direction? Not a big deal but it would be a nice feature.

2. I have an STM2.  I would like to use my iPad to monitor the switch points....this is a great idea, but I use DZ2500 switch motors.  Yes I know Lionel develops products for their own line, but is there any work-around for Legacy/LCS users to use the STM2 to monitor the position of DZ2500 switch motors?  If no wiring suggestions can be offered are there any plans to develop/produce an additional device that will make the STM2 work for those of us using Z-Stuff switch motors?

As always thanks for coordinating this event Marty and for soliciting questions!

Are questions closed?   It seems popular:  sound.  How about user modifiable sound in some manner?   Or external module load for those that want more than one whistle, horn -- for example slot in the tender?   Or -- they don't like that, optional end user install of different lionel boards with different sounds -- or for tender based sounds, different matching tenders with different sounds...

For them yes, I think so. Otherwise the approach which I would prefer would be an "open sound system", which translated from their perceptive is something like:  we do work, you get stuff for free.  I can't see them going for that.   Given that:

1 -- provide a port for example on tenders to change the sounds by supplying a new "port sound module" which would be something folks buy from them,  or

2 -- sell matching tenders for particular trains which have the different sounds already installed (so just swap tenders for different sounds during operation), or

3 -- sell different sound boards that contain the sound clips that users could change themselves by opening up the tender and replacing the hardware on their own

At least one DCC sound vendor sells a "programmer" which lets you update the sounds on their boards... so it's not free free, but flexible from the end user point of view.

That could possibly be a secondary offering for to above.

I noticed in the 2016 Part 2 catalog they are offering sound boxcars (pg. 68) --  so these ideas are related to what they are already doing now ... at least to me.

OK Guys and Gals we have about 35 folks attending.  The plan is to have some doughnuts on hand.  I want to make sure we have enough so if you plan on attending let me know.  Beverages can be purchased at the concession stand in the orange hall.  It looks like we'll start the discussion around 8.  I realized I didn't leave time to set up.  So as soon as we are set up we'll get going.

We have a "special guest" arriving.  Don't get too excited he's not a celebrity... yet.

We will review the LCS partner's Apps and PC programs, including eTrain and High Rail.  We will look over the info Dale Manquen sent.  Mike Ficco has requested some BETA testing on a controller he demo'd for us previously and will have that info on hand as well.  Lots to cover along with the Q&A and Lionel's own Mike Reagan.

If you want 1.6 we will walk you through the process.  Please bring 2 writable modules.  We'll check them on my system before you leave with them.

The questions are in the original announcement as a PDF.  We will add all the LCS partners and other information PDFs to the summary along with the video.
