First of all Many thanks for the responses regarding my initial 022 post!!

  Another question:

 - I connected a switch to alive voltage  track and the derailers both work good so motors ok

 - no light from the switch bulb and when I put a wire from the center remote SWITCH CONTROL post on either side, nothing

 - When I took the motor base off and touched the same posts directly from the transformer I got the light to go in both directions  when I manually switched the track.  AGAIN, SWITCH WILL NOT LIGHT UP OR WORK WHEN SET UP ON LAYOUT

 - Why wont the thing work. All wires seem soldered ok

-Pls help!!

  Thanks, Jerry

Jerry,

Let's get a few things straight:

1) You have an O22 switch which you believe to be in working order.

2) You connected this switch to a live track setup to run of of track power in a test environment and it operated satisfactory.

3) You then installed the switch in the layout, still running off of track power and saw no life in this new installation.

4) You are using the correct O22 switch controller.

First, lets make sure you have your wiring correct. There should be three leads from the O22 switch controller. Make sure the middle one goes to the middle switch post, and the outer ones go to the outer post (if you find the switch operates backwards, switch the outside leads). Power the track to 10-14VAC. You should see the light in the motor light up, and one light in the switch controller light up. Rotate the lantern by hand, and the light in the O22 switch controller should change. Now operate the switch using the controller. Again, the light should change with the direction of the switch. Additionally, make sure you have the two insulated pins in place per service documentation: http://www.olsenstoy.com/cd/swt/stc022c.pdf
