Hi all!

I've got a Legacy remote and the direction button is not functioning. When pressed, it does not cycle the engines to the reverse direction. I thought maybe a contact might be dirty or something on the inside. Has anyone ever taken one apart and/or dealt with this problem? All other operations are fine.

Thanks in advance for any help. (At least the engines are stuck in the forward position)

I don't have an answer to your question, but since this observation is somewhat related (in terms of reversing direction), I'll mention it.

Prior to this weekend, I had never used Legacy before, so perhaps this is old news. Anyhow, just by messing around with the remote, I found another way to reverse direction (at least with a diesel). I noticed as I turned the velocity throttle to slow and stop a train, if I continued turning it counter-clockwise after the train stopped, the directional lighting would reverse. At that point, I would start turning the throttle clockwise and, sure enough, the train would start up again in the opposite direction.

That is a selectable feature in the menus.  Can be turned on or off if you do or don't like it to work that way.  I believe it's called Velocity Throttle, might be abbreviated VTAB (or something similar) in the menus.  (sorry, it's late.... not going to go power up the remote to check the exact abbreviation )

Does the Velocity Direction Control work?  Make sure it's enabled in the CTC menu.  When you flick the red knob counter clock wise the engine will change direction.  This is all I use to change direction.

See above that are doing the same.  Missed those responses.  Sorry.

I'll try that later on. It may be the only way to reverse the trains!

Thanks very much for that tip!

I found this button non-functional when I used a remote for the first time in at least a few weeks, and I was getting ready to call Lionel to send it in.  (I've had to do that once before, but unfortunately I do not know if it was the same remote since I did not specifically mark it when it came back)

Compressed air directed into the sides of the button from the outside (did not disassemble remote) seemed to clear me up for now.
