I will be in Richardson, Texas next week, May 12 through 15 for training for my employer.  It will be my second trip there in the last 5 years, so I am somewhat familiar with the area.  I will be going to class with two other company employees I have never met; one from Minnesota and one from southeast of Dallas.

Does anyone out there live near Richardson who could tell me if there is anything train related I could visit in an evening? I will be sharing a car with the guy from Minnesota, so I don't know what plans he has.

Thank you!

Gary,

Yikes!  I looked up Fort Stocton and found it is 'West of the Pecos'.  As John realized, I will be in the northern suburbs of the 'Big D'.

John,

I think I will pass on the Billion Dollar Tribute.  Considering I live only 40 miles from Pittsburgh, I have never been to Heinz Field.  ;-)     However, the LCCA members list is a good suggestion.  I will have to sign in to the LCCA site, and see who is there.

Look out LCCA members in Dallas area, you may want to block the ability for someone to view you info for a few days.  lol

Thanks to both of you!

Hi, Mark;

You might also check TCA members; many exist. Unfortunately, I expect to be out of town that week.

Grapevine TX (just north of DFW airport) really embraces their railroad history. They have several buildings / water towers depicting the old-time depot in town. They also have weekend excursion runs (steam runs only VERY rarely). http://www.grapevinetexasusa.c...ne-vintage-railroad/

About 300' from the Grapevine Depot is a baggage car that contains an operating O-gauge layout.  http://www.lonestarhirailers.com/  Normally open Sat/Sun only, but run on extended hours when Grapevine has special events going-on.

Also, if you're not into the Cowboys, there's always the Texas Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

I may post a follow-up if I think of anything else.
