Hello Everybody I have been wondering if anyone has A Lionel 1681 they are selling because the engine belonged to my grandfather but he lost the engine and he gave me the cars that went with it. This engine I have trying track down for months with no luck, this engine is why I got into toy trains. If anyone is selling this engine please tell me it is very appreciated.

I just checked my box of prewar I just came up with a 1689 and 1666. Then I checked my prewar guide to see what a 1681 looks like. You would think it would be easy to find but the motor Lionel used was not very robust(imo). I have been looking for a good replacement for my 1700e set and they are hard to find. I will keep an eye out for one for you.

Mercury Marx.  I have a lone loco w/o a tender.  The boiler has been painted black (inside still original red). It has copper trim painted over. The motor runs, e-unit works, and has runable wheels. Boiler front is missing and I do not have one. Both drive rods are missing also. The headlight socket is there, but light not working. I will donate to you in honor of your grandfather, if you think this is workable for you. Just send me your name and address.  The Old Man !

Good for you, Harry. What did you receive for your kindness? A slap in the face. The OP did not like auctions? One complete w/tender (C-6) just closed @ $56.+s/h. Somethings are hard to understand . Must be cause I'm an old phart.

God Bless,

"Pappy"
