Very well done, a first class effort, you should try reading  Linda Niemann's "On The Rails," a poetic female point of observation on actual railroad experience. I hope to see you selling at the trains shows in the future.

You got to have art.

You may want to get a table at a train show, art does sell at train shows.  Also do commissioned art.

That worked well enough that I didn't even bother finishing it before moving on to the next experiment.

This one taught me that I need to move up to larger paper.  So I did a goat.

Which told me I needed better tools so I went shopping before I moved on.  This is the result of that shopping trip.

I decided to focus on locomotives that are in museums or excursion service.  By going this route I can count on a lot of source material from the net, books and other sources that one old grainy photo often can't provide.

No, not a professional.  Not a professional anything as a matter of fact.  I worked in retail for 16 years before I got waylaid and I've been trying to find some way to make money since 2004.  "Seizure disorder unspecified" in case you're wondering.

Definitely art - the rusty turnout tredle is my favorite.

Oops. Wrong key  My dad could render accurate locomotive drawings in chalk on my child's blackboard, but never pursued his talent, which I do not have.  You do and should.

I know the "lost" feeling health issues bring on first hand.

  But I really think this is something special, and I'm obviously not alone.

I was a professional illustrator for a few years (until I realized you simply can't make a consistent living at it) and went through art school. This is book-worthy for sure. I've seen some pretty poor stuff in the train magazines over the years and this is way better than a great deal of it!

I use photographs to create "registration points" which makes perspective a lot easier.
