When I was a kid at Morristown,Tn the Southern stored about a half mile of retired boxcars on an old unused spur to be rebuilt into flatcars.Me and a friend explored this line of cars noting dates and older paint, but I didn't think to take any pics then.I would love to one day have a line of Southern boxcars like those, besides most trains any where in the country had Southern boxcars in the consist during the 60s/70s.It was 1980 or 81 when Southern rebuilt old box cars into flat cars.

Hello Johnny Winkler, Menards did produce a red Southern boxcar, but not a brown one!!!
Gosh they were way off on that one Roger, you could not give me one of those. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Menard...;hash=item4d2cdf59d2
I had a red Southern boxcar like that in the 70's. It was made by Lionel.............rogerw.
I just saw one of those on ebay Roger,so we can blame Lionel for starting the bright red Southern boxcars.Menards just copied the Lionel car and hopefully they don't do that again.I have always heard Southern doesn't sell in O gauge but so much has been done wrong that even the Southern collectors don't want it.
Hello Menards, If you re-run this boxcar, can you make it boxcar brown or Southern brown??? (I know that the name of the color for boxcar is wrong)............rogerw.
Hello Johnny Winkler, Southern does sell in the southeastern states, the issue is there is a limited supply of what you can get. When any Southern product is released, it doesn't stay on the LHS shelves long!!!.................rogerw.
Would like to see Menards make more southeastern railroads also. Even today you see some of the older cars in consist with CSX and Norfolk Southern such as Southern, Seaboard, Family/lines, Norfolk & Western. I model N&W, Clinchfield, and Southern. Johnny Winkler my Grandparents lived in Whitesburg when I was a kid and their house was about 20 yds from the Southern tracks. Use to run to the front of the house every time I heard one of those big Green and White engines coming. Come on Menards make some southeastern rolling stock and paint them the correct colors. Can't wait.
Menard's if you make correct BROWN Southern boxcars I will buy probably 24 of them. However if you re-issue that red one I won't be interested.
I would like this version as well,I believe MTH just made this exact boxcar paint scheme in HO scale. http://southern.railfan.net/im...eight/box/31033a.jpg
Yes to Southern, N and W, C and O, Seaboard. There are plenty that will sell if produced. Even N, F and D, or ACL.
Atlas has a 1940s era oval herald Southern boxcar in their catalog released today.
Seaboard Coast Line would be awesome too in the paint scheme as seen on this HO model. https://www.google.com/search?...rc=tKi2vkLfV1UWnM%3A
Please include Richmond, Fredricksburg and Potomac in the list too often it gets left off.
