GGG. As far as I can tell, now that I have power capable drivers and wheels grounded to the engine chassis there are only 2 possible outside rail pick-ups on each side of the engine (one driver and one trailing truck wheel).  The other two drivers are power capable but they have rubber tires.

 

Thank you for the tender wiring routing info.  I will keep for reference.

In 3R position the tender wheels on both trucks route both outside rails to the power board besides the engines wheels without tires.  Center rail power comes from the rollers to the power board.

 

Now if you only have one outside rail energized becasue of insulating track pieces you can run into issues if the wheels on the engergized track have a continuity problem.  G
