This pains me. I had two engines act up at the end of summer. Both got their speeds changed within minutes of each other. I swore it had to be 4.31!! I mean, what else could it be. I threw them in the shed and walked away mad.

I spent the last couple of days getting ready for spring. I put off fixing these two engines until now. I took my custom made SD70 apart. I spent a long time swapping sound files, resetting engines, cleaning flywheel, tach reader, etc. It's still fast.

It occurred to me that I still hadn't swapped out the boards. If they were re-programmed like I believed and posted about, there was an easy way to prove it that I had missed. So I took a RK engine I got from Barry apart and put the board into the SD70. It ran fast too?

 That means.....

I must be wrong about 4.31 causing the issue. How can a messed up board be to blame if the one installed now also runs fast and that was still in the box from last year. I have 4.2 in the new remote.

SO,....................... Barry. It just might not be 4.31

I don't know what it is but........

some other clues.... the battery looks like it is leaking? White crap around it like from a car battery. It wouldn't take an address change. I put in a BCR2 and still fast. I have to re-wire the tach and try some other things.

I still haven't touched the brand new engine. It will possibly lead me to find out what the heck went south.

Update: I'll be ...... It was the tach reader on the SD70ACe. Although it was semi-working. It must have been messed up. I can only guess on why until I open up the brand new engine.
