"In the meantime, the Manufacturer of the Grand Central Terminal has shipped out 15 custom GCT bases"

Yep, competition is usually good. And, in this case, I personally will be patient and wait for Harry. Those who do should be rewarded with a very good price and high quality. I  have no skin in Harry's game, don't work for him and only get pleasure out of promoting a real asset in our hobby.

Thank you, I bought this  at a NJ lhs in Moutain Lakes. it turned out to be the impetus for my O gauge Railway. Before the GCT was set up for commuter railways, we would take the train from Albany there to New York.  I was always taken with the majesty of GCT .

My in laws often met at the clock as countless others did.

I know that this has been done by others in a more prototypical manner, this version suits me just fine.

Audi/Fred, terrific job on the base, particularly since you incorporated the subway station.

Dennis, I don't understand the question. PTC posted about HH's future offering after PTC initiated and suggested the product; HH announced nothing.

"what would you guys have to say about that?"

As I said before, competition is typically a good thing. There are no monopolies in this country on ideas or building another mousetrap so long as no infringements are involved. Yes, there is another base out there and the pricing is well north of what the station was priced at. Perfectly OK in our free enterprise system. But complaining about a competitive product or pricing that another vendor has yet to firmly set (other than good pricing), hmm, not good in my opinion.

My promoting Harry has to strictly do with a really good guy in our hobby who has done superb work for me in the past. He is an ORG Forum sponsor and it is always nice to help out one of our own. The only benefit I get from helping Harry is to support him, that's it. Dennis, your motivation in this dialog?

Just saw this thread.

So... did the Harry version ever come to fruition?  Someone in this thread said it would be out last December.  Then January.  It's now late March.

I would definitely be in for the V2 smaller version - if it comes out this year and at a reasonable price.

In fact, I hope Harry offers a small GCT too. I like the one I have from Lionel, but honestly, it doesn't compare (especially its sides) in architectural detail to the full size version.

Not to knock the TW base, but after closely reviewing the photo posted by DennisB, the base while nice, is not commensurate with the detail level of the full Lionel GCT.  Hope Harry's version for the large and small will be higher.

Lionel and Trainworx do not make a base for the smaller GCT.

As far as a larger base is concerned, both are forum sponsors, and if one is too high priced or one has better features than the other, well then we OGR readers want to know.

"both are forum sponsors"

George, for the record, I do not find that TW Design is listed as a Forum sponsor nor do I ever remember their participation in advertising to help sponsor this wonderful resource. I have seen them post a lot in the past about their products, but that was in only a member capacity. Big difference when someone actually puts up the bucks to help support the Forum activities. Harry Heike IS A FORUM SPONSOR, so you are correct about him.

It took me back to comments made to me several months ago about what Dennis was doing in our hobby and if you all notice his post has everything to do with promoting a non-forum sponsor's product with a website link to it rather than any real discussion about the actual subject matter of this thread.

Now he tells us all:

"But as a manufacturer I have a problem when I see someone berating"

Feel free to fill us all in Dennis, if what I was told is true, it sure makes your position clear to me (and I will understand just why).
