I do not understand this statement "to transfer into another controller"

nothing is in the controller.  everything is in the base.  are you trying to make an engine module?

bigdodgetrain is correct.  All the info is in the base.  If you are sending back the entire system including the base you do not need a black module.  The black module only copies the engine personalities not the base contents in whole.  The database from the base is stored on your PC.  You would do a backup from the base going in for repair and restore it to the backup base.

The problem is for the 4th time in as many years my Legacy controller has stopped working. I called Lionel and they said send it in for replacement. I'm trying to save engine info to a module before it gets erased to put in the new controller when it ships.

So what you are saying is, for now I'll need to download the legacy program into a laptop and then download controller info into the computer??

Joe

The base, not the Cab2 remote, holds all the info.  Connect the PC to the base using the LSU and follow the procedure to backup your database.

If you are not sending the base back then you really don't need to do anything.

They want it all returned.   Problem now  is I don't have a serial port on my laptop to connect the legacy wire...

Probably not worth the effort if I have to buy another connector wire to do it.

Joe

Well once you get a LCS WiFi adapter that takes care of the cable. But again an added expense.
