Below are few in process photos of what I’m working on this week. This started out as a $10.00 Ebay buy of an old American Flyer 596 water tower.   After getting it I found that it worked fine just needed one wire reconnected and it was missing the ladder. A replacement ladder came from Hennings and then I decided that I wanted something that wasn’t as plain as most water towers were. This one is painted B&M Passenger Maroon with Decals from and early GP-7. To finish it off I’ll be mounting it on a slightly raised scenic plot and adding some landscaping.

The B&M never did anything like this but they should have.FLYER WT4FLYER WT3FLYER WT2

Great landscaping work on your base, Pete. I particularly like the curves on the concrete steps.  The maroon and gold really stands out. and the height is perfect.  But please tell me more about that blue, yellow, and grey diner in your final photo.  Did you add the TV antenna?

The diner is a project I completed last May and displayed in the thread linked below;

The antenna was made from a few pieces of scrap brass rod and added to the diner. It reminded me of the TV antenna my dad was always fooling around with when I was a kid in the late 50's /early 60's living just North of Boston.

The Diner was just a scrap body I had bought as part of a lot of passenger cars about a year before.

The steps show up in all my scenic plots and were made from 1 X 4 on my router with a piece of lattice moulding glues to each side and shaped on a belt sander.

Below are a couple of pictures showing the antenna on the not yet completed diner.

Oh and it's named after my wife Angelica, she says she hates to cook so I thought it would be ironically amusing to name my diner after her.

Pete,

Thanks for your additional photos and the link to your May post.  I don't know how I could have missed it.  I especially like the ends of the car.  Naming your diner after your wife who doesn't like to cook just means that you'll have to take her out to dinner more often, right? :-)

Dave,

Nice addition as well.  I started a rather stagnant Misc Photo forum thread about real railcars and trolleys that have been converted to diners and how they compare to the real thing.  The work the two of you have done is inspiring me to try my hand at an O scale creation sometime.

You tinplate guys seem to have all the fun!
