I won’t include names in the hopes this post won’t be deleted. Anyone buying through the forum, make sure you try to know who you’re dealing with. I posted a WTB post and received a private email reply. They had to be a forum member to have access to my email. They talked a good game and the price was reasonable. Then a lengthy email about how and why I should only send money through “walmart2walmart”. The first time I’ve heard someone not take a post office money order. They sent one picture, which was a Lionel box, without even the label showing. Finally, they wouldn’t remove the item from the box even for picture because they wanted to keep it new. I think I got lucky that I caught on to this guy before sending money. The name of the person they used is a real person (I googled it), but the idiot used that persons last name as a first name, and of course the real person knows nothing about selling trains. Just a friendly warning to watch out. This guy is still out there ready to try again.

It sounds like the same fellow that tried to scam me in my want to buy post.  You could tell from his phrases in his response that he did not know trains very well and insisted on walmart pay because "thats what his wife used".  I got his phone number from the pay info and texted him, i got a surley "who is this".  I then called the number and got a fellow that barely spoke english.  Needless to say the deal was off.  I am more careful now..

This person also contacted me on a want to buy ad in this forum.  He insisted on the walmart deal and I got his number from the payment info and called him,  he could barely speak english and he certainly was not a model railroader...

Guys...PLEASE ask these guys what their forum name is....!  Then you can do a member search to see if he gave you his real forum name.  There is no doubt that we have someone on this forum that is a member that seems to be trying to rip folks off.  We all need to work together (smartly) to find this person and get them off the forum and to turn them into the authorities....
