I'm headed out to Stanford University in a few weeks and am having a dickens of a time figuring out how I'll get there from the SFO airport and back again. I'll probably drop in AAA tomorrow but figure with all the CA people here on this forum, maybe one of you has the answer.  It looks like there's a short section of the BART train that you have to take at the airport that then connects to Caltrain? Unfortunately, Caltrain only stops at Stanford during football season, which it ain't. :-)  How might I get from the stop just north of Stanford to the campus?  It looks like maybe there are some buses but it's not clear which ones to take.  Or, maybe I'll just take a cab if they have any hanging around the train station.  I figure it'll be fun to ride the rails to and from an otherwise heady seminar. The passenger cars look pretty nice from the website.

Thanks in advance,

DaveB and ProfessorChaos,

Thanks so much for supplying the missing conection and also the extra detail about the SFO-Millbrae connection. One day of travel will be a weekend, the other a weekday, and I assumed some sort of reduced/alternate service but that little jog does look a bit inconvenient.

The Stanford shuttle map is excellent.

Thanks again!

I'm back from sunny California. Sadly my seminar logistics meant that I couldn't take the train and be where I needed to be in a timely manner in spite of your helpful tips.

The airport shuttle driver did however cross the Caltrain tracks twice without bothering to stop let alone slow down (I hope that's not normal), and I got to see two old hoppers on a siding when we picked up another passenger. But the closest I got to a train was looking up through ceiling-level windows from the SFO international food court to see the airport train on the level above me.  It looked really cool from that angle but would have been much more fun to have ridden on it before my flight.
