I am fairly new to installing ERR products. I was wondering if I am running locos conventionally, can I activate the Coil couplers on a cruise commander/Railsounds set up with a whistle/bell button- or is that strictly for Command running Folks?

I once had a Postwar 2025 locomotive that the previous operator set up so that when you activated the whistle button, it opened a coil activated coupler on the rear of the tender.
He removed the whistle from the tender, but kept the relay unit to activate the coupler. he swapped out the factory tender truck for a truck that already had the coil coupler on it.
Worked well.

ERR boards are a TMCC product and like all TMCC boards, you can't activate the coil couplers using conventional control. They only work in TMCC command mode.
I've put relays in all my Postwar 623 series (etc) switchers so that one of the couplers is activated by the whistle/sound buttons. I left the other connected to the sliding shoe. It's called Teledyne couplers.
