I can't seem to upload pictures with an iPad with the new IOS8 update.  When I select the picture, it comes into the file chooser and just sits there with the status of Queued.  The Finished button is never highlighted, and nothing happens until I cancel.

Here's the answer from Hoopla Tech Support...

Hi Rich,

Thanks for contacting us about this issue. It turns out that this is a bug in Safari on iOS 8. The WebKit developers have acknowledged it, as well:

@xeenon Mobile safari doesn't have file upload anymore? http://blog.uploadcare.com/post/97884147203/you-cannot-upload-files-to-a-server-using-mobile-safari

@BDoma Just a bug we didn’t find in time to make the release. Will be fixed.

We'll post back here if we have an update on this, but in the meantime, it looks like we are just going to be waiting on a bug fix from Apple.

Note that file uploads do seem to work in Chrome on iOS, so you might suggest your users try that as an alternative.

There ya go...it's an Apple problem.

Surface, from the great minds that bought you the Zune (and IE9-11 and windows 8). Glad it works

do wish Hoopla would fix the having to double tap on the subject links to open them. They claim its a bug, but after two or three  IOS upgrades since it happened that is no longer a bug, but the way it works. Beside hoopla is the only place I have ever witnessed this problem

So your solution is to buy a Surface tablet for the forum and then buy the iPad for LCS?  I suppose if another site has issues with those two, you'd recommend an Android tablet to handle that issue?

In case you didn't get it, that's sarcasm.

Hey now....what's wrong with an Android tablet?

John...you can never have too many devices (or trains.)   Two philosophies I live by.

Chris, I was dragged, kicking and screaming, into buying the iPad.  Now that I have it for LCS, I'd like to use it for other tasks.  I don't want the tablets to become like the box of remotes next to my TV for all the devices, I'd like to use just one!

So far I've resisted going over to the dark side. Just like I'd never buy a train that couldn't be upgraded I could never buy a device that I couldn't get my fingers into (rooting and such.)     Hopefully, some day LCS will be available on Android.    It would seem shortsighted on Lionel's part to ignore a big piece of the pie.

This is all part of the reason I no longer enjoy being a "trailblazer" with the newest releases of technology anymore -- especially firmware and software, where we can usually get by just fine with the existing  release for awhile.

I'm nowhere near "current" on some of my hardware platforms.  The most back-dated is my desktop Mac Pro from 2008 which still has OS 10.6.8 on it , and everything I need to do works just fine.  I apply all the OS "minor release" updates when Apple delivers them -- primarily for security/reliability reasons, but just haven't gotten around to upgrading to higher OS "major" versions.  I suppose at one point I'll get around to it -- most likely when functionality requires it.   There will undoubtedly be a new version of software I'm using that may eventually require OS 10.8 or 10.9.  Until then, why invite issues?

Glad to see Apple fixed the iOS 8 upload problem so quickly though.  That was a glaring error for all you trailblazers.

David
