I run two main lines from a ZW and a third main line from a VW. Right now the command base is wired to the U terminal of the VW. The third main line is elevated and does not connect to the two lower main lines.

I've read through several posts and it seems like I can connect the command base to the U terminals of both transformers and use TMCC on all three main lines if the transformers are phased. Is that correct? If so would it be better to run two separate wires from the command base -- one from the base to each transformer or just run a wire from the U terminal of one transformer to the U terminal of the other transformer. (Logically it seems the net effect would be the same, but electricity isn't logical to me, which is why I'm asking.)

Thanks!

the tmcc/legacy does not care where track power comes from.

so you will be ok

You need for the transformers to share a common ground.  If you get a spark when you try to connect the U terminals then the transformers polarity are reversed.  I think the VW is an older transform (and so might be the ZW) and does not have a polarity selecting plug (one blade wider than the other) nor a 3-prong plug.  If you get a spark just flip the VW plug.  Then you can connect the TMCC base to the ground.
