Well, I got my caboose today from a dealer out of New England. It went from NE to my Northern NJ home. The caboose cost $64.95 pre ordered the shipping was eye popping $25.00 almost 38.49% of the value of the caboose. It came FedEx 1 day. It might weigh 2 pounds. So my joy soon gave way to being totally annoyed.

So let's compare shipping costs on an a few Engines I bought over the last 30 days and the caboose I just received.

Today, I ordered the 6-82215, BTO, Santa Fe Warbonnet from a well known, larger NYC dealer (always at York). It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow at my Northern NJ home and was shipped via UPS. The shipping cost to me  is $25.00. Last week, I ordered an engine from a dealer in PA, another well known dealer, who charged me a very reasonable $17.00 for UPS 2 day shipping. A few weeks ago, I purchased both Lionel SD-40 BNSF BTO engines from a dealer in Hollywood, CA. UPS ground cost was $35.00 for both. Again, a reasonable cost,

How does a dealer located in NE justify a $25.00 shipping fee for a 2 pound caboose  when other dealers charge the same amount, comparatively speaking, for an Engine that weighs more than 10 pounds?

USPS probably would have been $10.00. Incredible - what a disgrace and a rip off - On top of that I have other items on pre order that have not been shipped to me yet. Tomorrow I plan to call their customer service department an instruct them to bundle all my products into one single shipment. No partial shipments and if they choose to send them, it will be on their dime.

I am totally frustrated with out of control shipping costs.

Joey A. - I tell all my dealers to consolidate all BO's into One single shipment as I don't want it piece meal. I have also told them to ship the cheapest method. Sending a Caboose overnight by FedEx from any place is plain stupid. Someone in the shipping are should have used their god given talents and used better judgement.

I called, complained and told them from now on all my BO's need to be shipped at one time, cheapest way. Let's see what happens with my Southern Pacific and 21 inch cars.
