I recently bought some cool cardboard cut out CTA el car postcards at the Transit Tees store at 1371 N.Milwaukee in Chicago.They give you a free cardboard el platform kit if you buy two or more postcards.The store sells them on their website.They also have many other custom made CTA items available also.The models are N scale,but you could print enlarged versions in O scale.Build Your Own Chicago makes and sells the models.

These reminded me of a paper cut out city that "Burger Chef" had in the 1970's. You collected pieces with each visit.

You jogged some old memories.My grandma's friend's husband made the cut out toy placemats for a restaurant chain when I was a kid.I think it was Howard Johnson.He used to bring some home for me to build.I bought a '57 Chevy cardboard cut out food tray a while back too.

Not sure if OGR allows direct links to other modeling forums, but google "paper modelers" and there's a forum which has a sub-section just on train items. Here's a video of a subway-like cardboard model mounted on operating/powered trucks. This one is not as detailed as some of the work done on that site especially for locomotives.
