I think we may be missing the point.

Nothing says eBay is trying to get you hooked on more Lionel trains.  They likely realize your affliction based on your sales and/or auctions won.

I'd bet there is a fair chance it's intended to be generic other types of trains for those who may say "gee, I never thought of looking for one of those before".

The point of the ad may very well be to try to branch out what people will buy on eBay, not just more of the same.

Then again, since none of us programmed the site and none of us are in the eBay marketing department, we will never know...

It is just a shame what they did to destroy the integrity of that site.

I will just leave it at that because I just have to much to say regarding the subject.

But the newest thing that makes my head spin is when I go to list something, let's say with the title Mth Trains Union Pacific Switcher Engine. Then it will tell me something absolutely ridiculous like,  your item will have a better chance to sell if you change the following words in your title. MTH Engine Switcher. Really now ? I wonder what they would prefer me to say ? Perhaps Lionel ? I know what I want to put. LOL...

I just thought that since the e-mail was promoting 'LIONEL' alone and had 4 photos.....a blind pig might find ONE photo of a LIONEL train to use!!!

It wasn't promoting Lionel, but a nice program discovered your interest in "model trains" and is attempting to create more activity by showing you more items. the younger crowd is trained for this and they don't like finding it items on their own.

@rail:You can edit your preferences so you don't receive marketing emails.

@subwayrunner:eBay is telling you you'll get more views with the suggested words included. You may want to listen to them if you want more bidders. The suggestion is made based upon analysis, not a guess. The specific name can be the second title line.

eBay is about transactions, we, the users are about the items.

the site.,

The biggest complaint I have about EBay is their search engine.
Some time ago they eliminated the ability to use wildcard characters.
Now their search engines return all sorts of stuff that does not even have any of the required search terms.

It is very noticeable when I search for non-train items.

Rather than boost sales, its cut down my use of the site.

old school search parameter...try quotation marks around the search term... implies exactly this term for a narrowed search

There have been a few things that they have done that just cause me to just log off rather then bother continuing to waste my time with their needless changes. With that they are making more and more needless navigational moves, so the more they make me work to do what I use, the faster I just leave.

On a separate note, the newest joke is that "we will sell it for you" have out professionals list it for you. Want to have a good laugh. I will put a link of such. Check this out, nice key words. Not to mention check out the price for these used NY Passager cars. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MTH-El...;hash=item4d30d563ae

Also so what is with this sent to our shipping facility and we will take care of the rest ? If you have to ship it to them why not just ship it to the buyer ? Plus how much more money do they expect people to lose on an item to use thier pathetic site.

Not sure why Google or any one else has not created a new site to just put them out of their misery. But I sure hope to see the day.

When the promo says 'Love Lionel...we found more' as in 'we found more Lionel'.

If that's not the intent 'Love Lionel...you may like Euro trains too' might have been more correct.

Again.....just put ONE photo of a Lionel product.
