To put it blantly, I want to turn this Lionel MPC era GP20^^, in to this...
A quick look reveals I would need to
-Move the headlight and number boards from their original location above the windows to the nose
-The paint job will need a slight modification on the sides of the nose
-New handrails
-Completely rebuild the fuel tank
-Relocate and replace the horn
-New truck side frames
This would be my first project doing anything like this. I know it is not an "easy" project, but I feel I can do it. The headlight and numberboard relocations I can do. Several detail parts, like the horn, bell, and some grab irons can be purchased from detail websites. Truck side frames, handrails, pilots, and the fuel tank can be purchased from parts lists from manufacturers like Lionel. The paint fix is minor. Other needed details can be bought relatively low or made custom (windshield wipers). Lastly, I'd install ERR electronics and cruise control.
I'm sure I could do it. Opinions, examples, let me know what you think! Seriously considering...
