Very nice photos of the event. It went well given the last minute scheduling issues we encountered. 

At this time I wish to announce that for 2016 we will have a meet on Saturday June 4th with set up time on Friday the 3rd in  the PM. It will be held at the Rutgers Student Center which is next door to the Gym. The facility has been already booked and paid for.

we have found that the timing will be conducive to both Rutgers and our group. We will have more information in the future. As we will be afforded much preparation time we will endeavor to make the upcoming convention a special one.

And I also would like to present my supportive comments for the excellent job you did to finish that O-Scale "South Broad" class Subway car (S. Broad cars had the stub ended clerestory roof)  Excellent job and a one of a kind  model !!. 

 

Philly Broad St Subway  Standard Gauge track subway cars are a pretty rare modeling endeavor, as are the Broad Gauge track Market-Frankford "EL" cars per the 2 pre-war original body versions of 1906 and 1922 era  Subway-EL fleet as well as  the later 1960 Budd Cars and present era cars. (old joke -- "Broad" is Standard,  and Market is "Broad"...)

 

Anyway, here are some photos of that South Broad subway car seen on your layout at the just past Rutgers show  -- so people on this thread can see them here !

 

I also took some photos of your BSS Car model when I was at the just past 2015 Rutgers show, which I will add to a new following message shortly.

 

PS:  CTS Rapid  -- also an excellent job on that (appears as) O SCALE Broad IV Subway car (the present cars) from the 1980's !  Great looking model !

Sorry for the late reply --- just too busy on this end...

 

Excellent quickie-job in re-doing, modifying,  the MTH IRT Low-V Cars to a near appearing 1906 built Philly Market Street El Car.  Paint job looks nice too. 

 

As A thought, it gave me an idea --- to obtain and take some MTH IRT Low-V bodies and carefully remove the window sections from the letterboard down to the belt rail,  and using styrene shapes for new window posts and frames, sash,   create  SIX NEW windows on each side of the center door - being slightly narrower than the Low-V five window widths.  And do the end face modifications similar to what you did. Or even do the more extensive end modifications to indent the end face to the right of the storm door. And of course, repaint the entire car. 

 

Here are two photos from 2009 of my pal Jimmy Sparkman's 3/4" large scale scratch built Philly Market St EL Car  -- note as built new these cars had outboard Roof Marker lights positions  like (NY City) many BMT EL wooden Gate Cars-- on both sides of the roof headlight !!  Doesn't look like a hard conversion job for me to undertake on a Low V Car body !

The FRANKFORD Class Car Body also looks excellent - you got the look and feel of those (longer at 54 feet than the Market Cars of 49 feet) later 1920 built EL Cars. 

 

A Question:  Looks like the FRANKFORD EL CAR Body shell was built OVER one of those O-Scale 3 door green Japanese subway/commnuter cars   -- I can see what appears to be that carbody "inside" the Frankford Car body Shell.  Here is a photo of the Japanese Car Body that appears showing  inside -- based on the doors and windows behind the other shell skin.

 

Was this what you did ?.  If so -- One idea.  If you wanted to use the inner shell as the strength for the outer shell,  why not cut away the doors and window areas between the letterboard and belt rail section of the interior body-shell, so they don't show thru the windows and doors of the outer "Frankford Car" shell !!

You did such a great job on the Frankford Car body shell in itself !!

Once again, very flattered by your comments.  Not surprisingly, you have correctly identified the actual templates for each car.  Would be very interested to see you take these models all the way as you described.

 

I did try to order Mike's O-scale "Shapeways" Almond Joy kit.  Originally the order was accepted, then cancelled due to technical problems in actually delivering the finished product.  Maybe they're close, however.  That would close a big gap in The Philadelphia Story.

Hopefully Mike Bartel at IHP will get the O-Scale South Broad Subway (1931) Car and O-Scale Market-Frankford BUDD Almond Joy 1960 car,  resin body shells (shown on his website as such) into actual production .  I would want one of each !  Meanwhile, you keep up the good modeling work !

Sorry, third time was the charm.  I was able to see all your Philly photos after all.  You seem to be as talented in photography as you are in scale modeling.  A little surprised at the absence of Peter Witts, since Philly was crawling with them.  But given the time you've put in replicating old New York, it's amazing what you've been able to achieve in just one lifetime.

As far as Philly "PTC" Peter Witt --- Center Door Street Cars --- no -- but I do have more Philly double ended "pay as you enter" cars to finish up.

You want Black & White -- well,  try this video for vintage era effect !! Two streetcars pass under the EL and note the shadows cast on the street and EL structure at left by the approaching Elevated Train !!

PS:  I LOVE those Detroit trolley (and bus) models and that color scheme. If you did the trolley car models and paint work,  very excellent work there!! Or are some of those the St. Petersburg (Russia) Tram Co. products ?

Thanx again for the kind words.  The first Peter Witt is a Q-Car double-ender.  I cheated a little on this one- front and side are painted DSR; reverse is Toledo.  Many years ago, there were a couple of guys at your skill level who crafted the second Peter Witt with the unique Detroit hood.  Very hard to find and very spendy on ebay.  I put the PCC together from a kit.  Final NYC RDC is a Sunset, and they really are gorgeous.

 

Three trolley-buses in the set.  First is a custom SPTC Detroit version of their SF Twin model.  Second two are SPTC Marmon kits which I tried to kit bash into Detroit's actual St. Louis fleets- one in initial red, the other in final green.

 

Buses are SPTC Detroit Ford, SPTC White which I repainted in as-delivered livery, Corgi GM again repainted as-delivered, and an SPTC GM old look repainted in DSR red. Bringing

up the rear is a Corgi GM new look repainted in DSR green to match to green trolley-bus.

 

TMI I'm afraid.
