Re: Current Ebay buy being redone 117 Caboose

In my last post I showed the before picture of a EBay 117 caboose that I'm changing into a B&M caboose.

Looks pretty bad doesn't it? Today I've reached the point where I primed it and maybe tomorrow I'll start the B&M paint scheme.

This is what it looks like today.

So Far I've removed the cupola, added stairs, ladders, widow sills, reshaped the rear railings, added a chimney and drilled holes for handrails and a light in the rear. Tomorrow I'll start the paint, fabricate the doors, and decide what I'm going to do for windows.

Like the steps, are they from a 35/36 passenger cars?
Will you be using stations for the had rails with some type of metal stock?Are the window sills plastic channel or brass channel/angle?
Great Job can not wait to see the finished product, you always do great work!

The steps are from 35/36 passenger cars and were a real pain to solder on! The windows sills are brass L stock, I cheated on those and 5 minute epoxied them in. Everything else is soldered and I have the burnt finger to show for it! With the ladders and brake wheels added it should look pretty good.

Painted and the tape has been peeled.

Next step will be decals and then the final assembly. OOps I see a couple of spots I need to touch up looking at these pictures.

It's done. I think it came out pretty good and now I have unique piece. It's a shame all the details don't really show clearly in the pictures. I added an air tank underneath, stairs, Brake wheels ( and yes I know they are on the wrong side of the rail, they just look good there), Ladders, Window sills, doors ( even brass door knobs), handrails, lights, a chimney and took off the cupola.
