I'm Making Custom Decals For LIRR GP-38, First Loco Finished! Selling decal sets too

I like the one with "Long Island". Just in case anyone has any doubts.

I really like this locomotive a lot. The color and details are beautiful and it operates flawlessly in both conventional and DCS. The freight proto effects dialog is very good to . It actually sounds like a real train crew talking. Only problem is the crew sounds a little southern rather than like Lawn-guylandres.

I think it looks great. Really nice job!

I like the Long Island one also.

The correct logo is LONG ISLAND under the M. It was always that way from the beginning of the MTA takeover on all equipment.

Microscale sells HO 87-0759 Long Island/MTA Diesels & Passenger which will also work for O.

Island Model works plans to get them made for the next MTH blue & white MP-15 and other LIRR M diesels.

I think MTH nailed the GP38-2 sound set as well. My NY&A sounds just like the old LIRR GP's.

I bought the Microscale decals when the red, whiter & blue version came out. They look good, but I thought they looked too small. I did find a couple of photos with gp's that have small "m"s on them, but I think the bigger looks better.

I also have the NY&A, i love it too. one of my favorite locos.

Yes, I agree. But until now, that is the next best thing still available.

A larger M will also be needed for the MP-15 front.

You may want to work on that one as well.

If IMW & Microscale are slow to market them, I would be interested in buying a set from you.

I'm going to make a set on the decal paper later this week and hopefully apply them to at least one loco this weekend. If they come out good i can definitely make more sets for anyone who would be interested in buying them.

I was able to print the decals last week and apply them to the first locomotive over the weekend. I am very happy with how they turned out. I will do the red,white & blue locos later this week.

LONG ISLAND is too short. The L and the D need to meet the edges of the M.

I made an adjustment to the decals and spread the words Long Island out as SIRT had suggested and placed the new version onto the RW&B powered unit. I still have a RW&B dummy to decal and then I am ready to roll.

This might have been answered somewhere else but why does MTH put forth the effort to make a replica LIRR train yet can't produce the MTA logo???  Really like the look of this loco!

I believe it is because MTH does not has a licensing agreement with the MTA
