Custom scratchbuilt "freelance" 24 foot O scale log cars

Here is a custombuilt freelance 24 foot log car that will be used with a Lionel 0-6-0 switcher on a small switching layout. It is very similar to "narrow gauge" models. It is built entirely from wood with some metal details. The trucks are sprung Lionel Bettendorf style. The underside of the car includes a "tool box" and a brake cylinder. The log "load" is made from a wooden dowel. Four identical O scale log cars were built.

The following is a photo of a "narrow gauge" log car for comparison.

Model photos: The model is shown with "fresh" paint but it also needs "weathering" for more realism.

Your project is looking nice.

I am curious why did you make a new post for this instead of add it to your pre existing post that others had commented on already?
