My MTH Wifi system seems be working perfectly right out of the box, I am using the MTH wifi not my home network, not sure why I need or want to upgrade at this point?
Craignor, the original app/firmware had some problems reading the locos that were on the layout. It was a major problem for me. This appears to have been cured. There was a minor issue with the original app/firmware, in that when bell was ringing, it would shut off if whistle blown.

Using my iPhone 6 or iPad, After accessing the Luci, I get as far as step 6 in updating Firmware.
When I hit the choose file button, I get the following options: take photo or video, photo library, or iCloud Drive.

That's because you didn't navigate to where you put the firmware update after you downloaded it.
How can you verify that the update took place?
Look at the firmware level on LuCI's screen.
Typically, if it starts and then comes back to the login for LuCI, it's been updated.
When you log back into the LuCI web interface, you can verify by checking the Firmware version:

How come when I try to down load the update to my phone it says safari cannot download . How do I do this on phone, when I try on iPad it wants to download to outlook.
Ok I did the update on my computer all is good everything worked and says it's updated very easy
Ok, mission accomplished.
It was quick and easy using my wife's Apple laptop, and the MTH Wifi manual that I printed out. Took maybe 5-10 minutes.
I did waste an hour unsuccessfully trying to do the upgrade on my PC laptop running Windows 10, (never was able to sign into LuCi), and then my IPad and IPhone (wouldn't download the upgrade software).
***One thing to be careful of is once I upgraded my Apps from the AppStore, my IPad and IPhone Apps stopped connecting to my WIFI system and wouldn't work anymore. So, be sure you are ready to upgrade the firmware, before you upgrade your App***
