The Detroit 3 Railers had a picnic at Metro Beach in Harrison Twp. MI on Sat July 23rd.  This was organized by our member Mark.  There was a picnic pavilion near the canal where we could also watch boats coming from and going to lake St. Clair.  Running trains and boat watching the best of both.  The weather was HOT - but plenty of cold drinks (No Adult beverages allowed at Metro Beach) and good food and most of all good company.  Everyone had a good time.  Enjoy the video

That beats sitting in front of a fan all day. Always cooler at the water too

I'm disappointed you didn't pick a boat overflowing with bikinis though

Ever do anything at the car cruises? I put a loop in the back of a beat up truck, and in the back and on the floor of a VW bus with the doors open and ran it off the vehicle batteries. Really for myself to play with, but it always grabbed a lot of attention once folks realised it was there. I always thought it would be good exposure for a club to set up at Woodward, Gratiot, or Telegraph cruises.

It was a fun day...a H-O-T fun day.  Mark did one heck of a job.  Thanks you Mark.  As for the hot dog, Ron cut out the bottom and screw the body on a Lionel 6-18401 2 man gang car.  It was the narrowest fully assembled motor unit he could find it fit after removing the two figures.  The slide shoe and it being so light it sometimes derailed, but it run most of the time.
