No doubt different loco's swing out more than others. I found that out years ago on tunnel portholes on a curve. It was just fine for the JLC Big Boys but the first time I place my Vision Line Challenger on it there was a no go! So out came the

dremel tool to shave off the sides to make it pass through.

 

First pass on any big Articulate or big long diesel or extra long freight cars you'd better make it a slow one. 

When I built my layout, I laid out my #1 mainline with my JLC Big Boy on the track and trying out each ten foot section as i completed it, to make sure the loop was "Big boy capable." I'm certain that JLC BB is basically the same size, etc., as the V BB.  Many years later, the Big Boy will still fit on the mainline, but to run it I have to remove three or four buildings, two tunnel portals, and about eighteen million trees in my forest. So, Idon't run it much, since it takes over an hour to do all that and then another hour afterward to put it all back.
