A few months ago I bought a boxed Dorfan set from my friend John Parker. It was obvious to me that it was not a correct set, too many cars for starters. Finally got some time to study the shambles of a box top and determined it should be a set 255, Speedster Wreck-Train. The crane was missing and then there were 3 cars that did not belong to the set. I did not get track or track terminal, but I had an excellent 610 wrecker. I have now corrected the contents in the box, and will someday add the track and terminal. The 1930 catalog I have does not mention it coming with a transformer. After a little coaxing and cleaning, it runs great.

Here is the box bottom with the cars and also a photo of the 3 extra cars that came with it. The top of the box op is so-so, but the sides are all off and in many pieces or missing.

Steve,

Do you an idea when that train was produced? A work or wreck train seems unique for the time period.

The engine and tender of this set seem similar to Ives and Lionel Jr. I had to look closely at the engine and tender.

I remember when you said this set followed you home. It seems it attracted more friends.
