Duckunder Terminal Rwy: Can you help me ID this N&W engine, please?

A great looking work horse.  Very nicely done. The SD40-2 is my favorite of all diesels! Although it would look a lot better if the words Chessie System were stretched along the side.

I have to agree about the SD40-2 being one of my favorite diesels, both in 1:1 and 1:48. The Lionel Legacy SD40-2 models sound so great and track so well. It’s too new for my era, but I couldn’t resist it.

The decals were a bit of a challenge.  I coated them with Micro Scale's solution just to be on the safe side.  The date on the package was 1965.  It then took at least 6 applications of Solvaset to get them to snuggle down along with a lot of pricks and cuts with a knife blade to get the air out.

 

I do think it is a hansom all black paint scheme.  You can't tell in the photos but the Dullcoat is still to be applied.
