Hi everyone, I'm not sure where this post belongs so here goes. I will be putting together slowly but surely a ten car or longer consist of 15" similar cars behind an ES44AC Diesel. Since I won't be using a caboose, I will be putting a E-O-T device on the final car. Is there a manufacturer out there that makes them for O gauge freight cars? I'm looking for simple and sweet. I believe that track powered would be the best way to go. Please let me know if you know of a source for this item. I thank all in advance for your help.

Paul,
MTH makes one. Either yellow or white. The FRED is in a freight car truck so all you have to do is swap out the rear truck on any MTH freight car and you have a blinking FRED at the end of your train.

Paul,
The MTH unit:

... originally said it was for Premier cars, now says Premier or Railking. I bought one to try on a Railking car... haven't tried it yet.

The mth unit is far superior than a reegular blinking LED.
The trucks mount the same on Premier or Rail King. The only difference is that most Rail King trucks have fixed coupler mounts, while the ones on Premier are hinged to track better on curves. Some Rail King cars come with Premier style trucks. They are completely interchangeable as long as the coupler shanks are the same length.
I used the EOT device from MTH on my Lionel Old Milwaukee reefers. Very easy to change the trucks no problems.
You could also put a non powered unit on the end. BNSF and U.P. usually run a DPU (dedicated power unit) at the end of a train. Looks nice if it has lights on.
I have a couple of the MTH units and they work well. They're a bit large, scale wise, but in this case I'll take function over form because they're very easy to spot, even from the other end of the layout room.

Admittedly it would look good, but the weight at the back of the train would increase the risk of stringlining the train in a curve. Last time I did something similar, I had a dummy behind the lead power unit and the last engine in the "lash-up" at the back of the train. Worked great.
